FARMINGTON Marcella Louise Welshon, of Farmington, passed away on January 16, 2021 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 87. She was born on May 5, 1933, in Sesser, Illinois to the late Reverend Clarence and Geneverett (Darrough) Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Roy Allen Welshon Jr. and her brother, Fred Taylor. Marcella is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Roy Allen Welshon Sr. and her children, Kathy (and husband Randall Sr.) Davis of Farmington, MO and Edward "Scott" (and wife Christy) Welshon of Holt, MO. Nanny Cella was a grandmother to eight grandchildren, Angelica "Angel" Marie (and husband Chuck) Mayberry of Hillsboro, MO, Randall "Randy" Joe Davis Jr. of Mt. Sterling, KY, David Michael (and wife Hayley) Welshon of Philadelphia, PA, Melissa Renee (and husband Jon) Lamb of Festus, MO, Geoffrey Wayne(and wife Michelle) Van Matre of De Soto, MO, Matthew Ryan Welshon of Columbia, MO, Brian Christopher Welshon of Kansas City, MO and Craig Allen Welshon of Kansas City, MO, great grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, Tara Jo (fianc Nathan Higgins) Mayberry, Ryan Jeffrey Mayberry, Sophie Brooke Lamb, Shelby Annette Hickman, Daniel Luke Hickman, Jr., Spencer Allen Lamb, Lincoln Wayne Van Matre, Nolan Allen Welshon, Florence Marcella Welshon and Louis David Welshon and dear sister to Jean Ann Hoyt of De Soto, MO and David (and wife Karen) Taylor of Cedar Hill, MO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Marcella worked as the deputy recorder of deeds for Jefferson County for many years. She was a member of the GFWC Monday Club, the BPW Foundation, the Red Hats Society of Farmington, the Newcomers of Farmington, the Royal Arch Widows, the Ladies Auxiliary of De Soto Elks Post 689, and the Social Order of the Beauceant along with being a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She served as the Democratic Committee Woman of Valle Township for many years. She was a devout Christian and belonged to the Church of God of Farmington. She enjoyed bingo and traveling including numerous cruises but mostly loved spending time with her family and always left "Nanny Cella" marks with her red lipstick. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marcella will be in state on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 10:00am until time of service at 1:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel with Reverend David Taylor, PhD officiating.
