Marcella Emily Watson

FARMINGTON - Marcella Emily Watson, age 87, passed away Sunday July 22, 2012 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1925 in St. Louis, daughter of the late William J. Jr. and Emily (Valenta) Marik. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leander P. Watson Sr. Marcella was for many years employed as a registered nurse, earning her degree from Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She worked in several states at many different hospitals; most recently she was the operating room supervisor and outpatient surgery coordinator at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, from where she retired. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, reading, and caring for her pets. She was an avid supporter of both the local and state humane societies, and multiple veterans' organizations. Marcella will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her three children, Mary L. (John) Carter of Farmington, Cynthia L. (David) Isabel of Farmington, and Leander P. Watson, Jr. of St. Louis; two granddaughters Heather R. Watkins of Farmington, Sherry L. Helms of St. Louis, four great-grandchildren Riley, Madison, Hayden, and Hunter. Numerous other good friends and neighbors also survive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 25, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will continue on Thursday at 7 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Minister Bernie Crum officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday July 27 at 11 a.m. at the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Farmington.
