Mae Ryan

March 24, 1925 — October 24, 2011

Mae (Young) Ryan of Farmington passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at the age of 86 years. She was born March 24, 1925, in Grandin, Missouri, to the late Peter Edward and Della (Harris) Young. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Burke Ryan in 1995; two brothers and a sister. Mae grew up and attended school in Bismarck where she graduated from high school. Soon after high school she met Burke on a date that wasn't supposed to happen. Thanks to the influence of his sister Ruby, who paved the way for Mae's entry into the Ryan family. They eloped by train, with the approval of Burke's mother and funds from his sister Ruby. They were married soon after their arrival to Blytheville, Arkansas and remain in the deepest love to this day. Mae was an avid reader, quilter, gardener, cross-word puzzle solver, vegetable canner, and hummingbird watcher. She loved her little dog Sally who was her companion for many years. Most of all, she was happiest when she was surrounded by food and family. This will be the first celebration of Halloween for 86 years that many ghouls and goblins will be highly saddened by her absence, as this holiday was her favorite. Survivors include her two daughters, D. Kathryn Ryan and Patricia Jo (Mrs. Chuck) English; three grandchildren, Lynda (Mrs. Brent) Jennings, Davy Mauk, and Amy Jo (Mrs. Devin) Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Bryanna Knox, Ryan Mauk and Mikey Joe Kyle; a brother, Lewis "Sonny" Feasel, a niece, Vivian (Mrs. Dennis) Riche as well as numerous other family members. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 27 at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Dr. Rick Broadway officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be given to the Salvation Army or Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
