Mabel (Arkes, Rhomberg) Tillman of Festus, formerly of Farmington, passed away on August 5, 2006, at the age of 93 years. She was born on July 1, 1913, at Florissant, MO, the daughter of the late Fred and Ida (Aubuchon) Arkes. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Arkes, and Mary Rhomberg, and by two brothers, Bernard and Edward Arkes. On August 26, 1931, she was united in marriage to Carl Rhomberg, who preceded her in death on February 7, 1951. On September 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jacob Tillman, who preceded her in death, March 26, 1993. Also preceded in death by an infant great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Carron. Mrs. Tillman worked as a cook at Bakers in Arnold, MO. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved to grow flowers and vegetable gardens. She is survived by three daughters, Florence Dorshorst of Festus, Eleanor Thomas of St. Louis and Marion Hoelzer of Chesterfield. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, Diane (Mike) Maxson, Michele (Steve) Foshee, and Neil Carron, Walt (Debbie) Thomas , David (Jennifer) Thomas, Michael (Janet) Thomas, Nancy (Steve) Pallarito, Brian (Nancy) Berger, Kevin (Sarah) Berger, Cheryl (Bryan) Barr, Steven Berger, Todd (Lorraine) Berger and Jill (Tim) Mattingly. She is survived by twenty-eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Courtney, and Colin Maxson, Jessica Stacy, Cheyenne, and Chelby Carron, Greg, Carl, and Angela Berger, Alex, Emily, Jacob, Aaron, Alysee, Hannah, and Lauren Berger, Andrew and Eric Barr, Tiffany and Kyle Berger, Alan, Brian, and Matt Thomas, Gretchen, and Alysse Thomas, Lindsey, Kelsey and Nicholas Pallarito and by six great-great-grandchildren, Megan, and Logan Maxson, Makensi Maxson, Austin, and Peyton Stacy, and Ryger Thomas. Four step-grandchildren, Greg, Stephen, and Michael Dorshorst, and Teresa Dorlac, and nine step-great-grandchildren, Travis and Wesley Foshee, Alex and Kristen Cooke, Danielle Barnett, Melissa, Stephanie and Tiffany Darr, and one step great-great-grandchild, Constance Barnett, also survive. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
