Lucille Viola Adkins

Lucille Viola Ivie Adkins of Belleview passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the age of 77. She was born on April 11, 1936, at St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Willard and Bessie Honea. In addition to her aunt and uncle she was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Martin; father, Edward Smith, her first husband, Jesse Dean Ivie Sr.; daughter, Arlita Renee Tiefenaur; a son, Jesse Dean Ivie, Jr.; a granddaughter, Sabrina Renee Ivie; a great-grandson, Carter Dwayne Barron and two brothers, Harold Smith and Jerry Parmely. A native of the Caledonia area, Lucille, attended school and graduated from Valley High School. After graduation she met and married Jesse Dean Ivie. They raised five children in a Christian home living in both Hillsboro and Potosi. After Jesse's passing in 1993 she moved back to Caledonia to care for her beloved aunt and uncle. In 1999 she married Oliver W. Adkins and they made their home in Belleview. She was a faithful and active member of the Ironton Pentecostal Church of God. Lucille's passion was traveling and one of the most special times of her life was traveling to Germany with her sisters. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, especially her delicious homemade yeast rolls. In her spare time she read everything she could find to read and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She loved her special feline companion, Sugar Foot. Survivors in addition to her husband, Ollie, are her three children, Kathleen Sue Brown and husband, Joe, Randy Allan Ivie, Sr. and wife, Sandy, and Rodney Glen Ivie and wife, Michelle; ten grandchildren Kellie, Denise, Randy, Jr., Rodney, Jr., Chris, David, Jessica, Jimmy, Michael and Jaxon; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Flowers, Wanda Moore and Barbara Adams; a brother, Steve Parmely; three step-children, Oliver R. W. Adkins, III, Sandy Rene' Morenz and Lisa Michele Adkins; a special step-grandson, Joseph Adkins and five other step-grandchildren who were special to her; eight step-great-grandchildren; two special nephews, Robert Adams and Charles Moore, Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday morning in the funeral home beginning at 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at the Ironton Pentecostal Church of God with the Reverend Virginia Nettles officiating. Interment will be at Bismarck I.O.O.F. Cemtery. Memorials may be made to the Ironton Pentecostal Church of God.
