Lucille Fisher

March 9, 1920 — September 10, 2014

Elizabeth Lucille Fisher of Farmington passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Presbyterian Manor at the age of 94 years, 6 months and 1 day. She was born March 9, 1920 at Womack daughter of the late Emory August and Mary Lavina (Hawthorne) Tucker. She grew up in the Womack area and attended school in Madison County, where she once proudly held the title of "Miss Fredericktown" in 1939. Following school Lucille worked as a one-room schoolhouse teacher for about a year. In 1941 she married William Charles "Bill" Fisher and the couple made their home in St. Louis for many years where Lucille worked as a bank teller and later as an independent bookkeeper. Lucille and Bill later retired to Doe Run. After 60 years of marriage, Bill passed away on August 22, 2001. in addition to to Bill and her parents Lucille was also preceded in death by her sister Louise Hancock. In her spare time Lucille enjoyed painting, gardening, traveling, and visits to the casinos, but mostly enjoyed her bookkeeping work. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends and neighbors. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Brother Ken Vandiver officiating. Lucille will be laid to rest next to Bill at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choosing.
