Loretta Kirby

ANNAPOLIS - Loretta Maxine Kirby passed away on May 24, 2023 at her home at the age of 82. She was born in Stonefort, Illinois on January 7, 1941 to the late Melvin G. Sittig and Thressa M. (Martin) Sittig. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin LeRoy Kirby and a sister, Brenda Burna. Loretta was raised in Illinois until the age of thirteen when she left to work. Later in her life she was proud to have attained her GED diploma. She was a hard worker who raised six children. She and her husband were involved in foster care for many years and they had eighteen foster children who came through their door at different times. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, crocheting and word search. When her husband was on strike she baked cakes and sold them. Long after she no longer sold cakes, she continued baking cakes for her family and friends to enjoy. Survivors include her children, Thomas Kirby, Glenda Johnson, Della Garner, Wesley Kirby, Gracie Henson and Tiffany Kirby; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and some great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin (Amy) Sittig and Jerry Dale Sittig as well as extended family.
