Lorene Henson Yawney

Lorene (Henson) Yawney passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 with her loving family by her side at the age of 86. She was born on February 19, 1927, at Doniphan, MO, daughter of the late Delbert and Nettie (Tillman) Switzer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin E. Henson; and one brother, Emery Switzer. Lorene spent her adult life as a busy mother of ten and also was an adopted mom to many other children in the community. She had been a long time member of the Knob Lick Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed going on long car rides and was an accomplished gardener. Her specialty and favorite flower was the rose. Her grandchildren were truly the greatest joy of her life. Survivors include her children, Judy (Roy) Aubuchon, Tom (Debbie) Henson, Linda King, Melvin (Beth) Henson, Tim (Dawn) Henson, Chris Hahn, Edith (Ron) Templemire, Matt (Mendy) Henson, Lynettia (Johnny) Thomure and Buddy Henson; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-seven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; twenty step-grandchildren; five sisters, Evelyn Wills, Lee Groves, Ylonda Barks, Vennie Biekert and Elsie Carter; one brother, Doyle Switzer; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call Tuesday evening, January 14, 2014 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service beginning at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend David Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Lick Cemetery. Memorial donations will be accepted to the Knob Lick Baptist Church.
