Lonnie Joe Wilkerson

POPLAR BLUFF - Lonnie Joe Wilkerson, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away December 2, 2023 at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital at the age of 72. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 18, 1950 to the late Joseph Lawrence Wilkerson and Evelyn Pauline (Pendergrass) Wilkerson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Wilkerson in 2017; a son, Shannon Wilkerson in 2005; a daughter, Paula Lucas in 2020 and a brother, Jimmy Wilkerson. Lonnie grew up in Poplar Bluff where he graduated high school in 1968. His chosen career for most of his adult life was a truck driver, a profession he always enjoyed. Lonnie also enjoyed motorcycles, playing pool and cards and he also like restoring classic cars and trucks. He is survived by two children, Preston (Angela) Wilkerson of Perryville and Tonya (Matt) Herbst of Farmington; step-children, Edward (Loretta Emmendorfer, Karen Shepherd and Kenny (Lisa) Emmendorfer; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Blancett and Paulette Wilkerson and brother, Gary (Kay) Wilkerson. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. There will be a graveside service on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Farmington.
