Linda Diane Huffman of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the age of 65. She was born on April 28, 1947, at Bonne Terre, daughter of the late Jerome and Joan (Massey) Mattingly. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an uncle, Michael Mattingly. Linda graduated from Farmington High School in 1965 and went on to Miss Hickey's Secretarial School in St. Louis. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Webster University while working as a secretary. During her life, she worked at Mineral Area College as a secretary, at Monsanto, Brown Shoe Company, Clayton School District and the Hickey School of Business. She also was the City Clerk for the City of Clayton. At the time of her passing she was the Registrar at Mineral Area College where she had been employed for numerous years. Her upbeat personality shone through when working with young college students who were beginning their careers. In 1976 Linda married the love of her life, Royce Huffman, in a "Bi-Centennial Wedding" where they had red, white and blue dresses for the wedding party. While working as the City Clerk for Clayton, Linda and Royce traveled to Peru and adopted their daughter, Meredith, who was only three months old. She was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington where she and Royce were currently serving as communion stewards. She enjoyed cooking, antiquing and traveling in her spare time but most of all she enjoyed being a mother. The light of her life was her daughter, Meredith. Survivors include her husband, Royce; daughter, Meredith; her good friend and Godmother of Meredith, Pamela Hopper; an aunt, Dilys Massey of Cadishead, England; numerous cousins and a host of good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Monday, January 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at United Memorial Methodist Church in Farmington at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Scott Hall officiating.
