FARMINGTON - Linda Lou Cosby of Farmington, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center at the age of 73. She was born on November 3, 1942, in East Peoria, Ill., daughter of the late Forest Cummings and Alice Stapleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father Oral Stapleton and her brother Steven Stapleton.
Linda grew up in East Peoria, Ill., where she graduated from East Peoria High School in 1960. She moved to St. Louis, Mo., in 1967, where she raised three daughters with encouragement and the motto: "girls can do anything." She later became a registered nurse and worked as a nurse manager for Barnes-Jewish Hospital for more than 20 years. She guided and mentored her staff the same way she did her daughters. She had a strong faith in our Lord, loved being with family and friends, shopping, gardening, hummingbirds and the beach. She was a gatherer of sea shells, grower of beautiful flowers and baker of wonderful Thanksgiving stuffing and apple pie. She and her husband Lin loved to explore state parks and wineries, and snow birding in Florida or Gulf Shores each winter. She handled curve balls that life threw at her with strength and grace until the very end.
Linda was an adored wife, mother and Grammy who will be missed always by her husband Linwood Cosby, daughters Kelly (Patrick) Pahl of St. Louis, Angela Shea of Chicago, and Erin (Tom) Kaminski of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Connor, Caitlin and Tara Pahl, Maggie Hollerman and Sam and Ellie Kaminski, her sister Julie (Joe) Story, and brother Bill Stapleton, all of East Peoria, five step children, nieces and nephews, and many other relatives, dear friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 11 a.m. until the time of her service at noon at Three Rivers Baptist Church, 2026 State Road HH, Farmington, MO 63640. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Pulmonary Research Fund c/o The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, or the Parkland Pregnancy Resource Center in Park Hills, Mo.
