Lillian Katherine White

Lillian Katherine White of Farmington passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Community Manor, at the age of 94 years. She was born March 15, 1917, at Farmington, daughter of the late Phillip Lee and Mary Jane (Coffel) Dickey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clayton A. White Sr., three sisters, Helen Dickey, Leila Doss, and Hester Clubb, and four brothers, Charles Ed Dickey, John Dickey, Robert Dickey, and Richard Dickey. Lillian grew up in Farmington and was a 1935 graduate of Farmington high school. On March 11, 1939 she was married to Clayton A. White, and the couple made their home at Killianville near Fredericktown. For many years Lillian was employed with the Mine La Motte school as a cook during the school year, and spent summers cooking at the S-F Scout Ranch. She was a faithful member of the Fredericktown First Christian Church where she served as a deaconess for many years, and later joined with the Farmington Christian Church Disciples of Christ after moving to Farmington. In her active years she was a member of the Jolly Neighbors, the Madison County Extension Club, and many other community and church based groups. Lillian will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, including a son, Clayton A. White Jr. and wife Mary Virginia, of Dayton, OH and a daughter, Mary L. Meyers and husband Vernon of Karnack, TX, a sister, Bertha Weiman of Farmington, five grandsons, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and two special sister-in-laws, Ruby and Wilma Dickey both of Farmington. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Community Manor and Preferred Hospice for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Lillian. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday at 7 a.m with a funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Dale Berck officiating. Interment will be at Marcus Memorial Park in Fredericktown. Memorials may be made to the Farmington First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
