Leticia Carpenter

FARMINGTON Leticia Mae Carpenter of Farmington, passed away at Parkland Health Center on December 25, 2017 at the age of 81. She was born in Washington County, Missouri on January 1, 1936 to the late Frederick Thomas Mertell and Norma Elizabeth (Smith) Mertell.

Leticia grew up in St. Louis and received an Associate Degree from Mineral Area College in Park Hills. She retired after working many years as a dispatcher for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She lived in Fredericktown for many years where she raised her children. In her spare time, Leticia loved to jitter-bug, listen to music and do crafts.

Survivors include her children, Charles Higgenbotham, Jr. (Mike Farmer), Mark Carpenter, Janet Carpenter Autry (Don Autry) and Gary Carpenter; six grandchildren, Tracy Higgenbotham, William Carpenter, Kyle Langston, Cory Langston, Travis Autry and Cody Autry; great grandchildren, Tanner, Haillie, William and Cole; a brother, Harry Mertell and a sister, Cathy Foster. Also surviving is her beloved canine companion, Inky.
