Lester Lee Loewe

Lester Lee Loewe of Farmington passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the age of 82. He was born on September 3, 1931, at Bonne Terre, son of the late Charles John and Geneva Lucille (Harlan) Loewe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, infant, Delores Loewe, Helen Loewe, Gladys Warwick and Ethel Aubuchon and four brothers, Floyd, Earl, Edward and Victor Loewe. Lester was a life long resident of the area. For thirty four years he was employed at the Farmington State Hospital as a Pyschiatric Aide. He will be remembered as being a musician and guitarist who appeared on the Norvell Dollar show in the 1960's. He was a member of various bands such as, the Missouri Playboys and the Lester Loewe and the Country Boys Band. Lester enjoyed meeting people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed going to flea markets and liked finding collectibles. Spending time with his family and friends was one of his favorite pastimes. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Shirley Jean (Haynes) Loewe; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Southworth and the staff of Parkland Hospital, as well as the staff at Community Manor Nursing Facility. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service in the Cozean Chapel at 10 a.m. with Reverend James King officiating. Interment will be at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army.
