Lester Eugene Hays

FARMINGTON Lester Eugene Hays, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest suddenly on February 15, 2023, at his home at the age of 73. He was born on June 23, 1949, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to the late Clifford Hays and Dorothy (Rost) Sutton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his special canine companion, Bobbi Sue. Lester is survived by his sister, Bonnie Ratcliff of Park Hills, his niece who was like a daughter, Sheila Ratcliff of Park Hills, great niece, Heather Perez, great nephew, Daniel Snider, great great nieces and great great nephews, Sophia Luther, Simon Luther, Sailor Perez, Weston Ray, and Granger Buck, his stepfather, Winfred Sutton of Park Hills, stepbrothers, Ed (Robin) Sutton of Park Hills and Timothy (Fara) Sutton of Lakewood, Washington, stepsisters, Sherry Sutton of Desloge and Janet Swinger, his halfsister, Donna Robart, and his special friend, Lil Logan of Georgia, along with many friends. Lester was well known in the community for his painting and wallpaper hanging skills. He owned Lesters Wallpaper Hanging and Painting for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the NRA and the Elks Lodge Post #1765 of Farmington where he enjoyed cooking for meal nights and special events. He enjoyed gardening and yard work. He was a wonderful brother and uncle and will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel with an Elks service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at 7:00 a.m. on Monday until 9:45 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Stephen Constien.
