Lester Dillon Penuel

Lester Dillon Penuel of Farmington went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 23 days. He was born on November 22, 1919, at Irving, Texas, son of the late Homer and Altie (Cunningham) Penuel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Brown (Jennings) Penuel, a son, Gary Dale Penuel and two brothers, Ira Dell Penuel and Dale Penuel. Lester proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft electrician, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before leaving the service. After serving his country Lester was employed for many years as an Electrician with the McDonnell-Douglas Company in St. Louis. After retiring from McDonnell-Douglas, Lester and Carrie moved to the Farmington area and Lester went to work in the maintenance department at Mineral Area College for 9 more years. He was a member of the Delassus Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, and listening to gospel music. Lester is survived by three sons, Johnny D. Penuel and wife Carolyn of Farmington, Roger D. Penuel and wife Beverly of House Springs, and D. Eugene Penuel and wife Brenda of House Springs; a brother, Douglas Penuel of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010. Visitation will resume Friday at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. David L. Wright officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
