Leonard Dale Dilcom of Farmington passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013. He was born at Cole Camp, MO, son of the late Roy Cleatus and Lena Anna (Ficken) Dilcom. Leonard spent his younger years growing up around the Mid-Missouri town of Versailles where his father was the town Marshall. His first career was manager of Payless Shoes in Topeka, Kansas and Sioux City, Iowa. He went on to become a tool and dye craftsman and worked for Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc. in Jefferson City for 20 plus years. In the mid eighties he pursued a different career in child care work when he and his wife, Helen became associated with the Farmington Children's Home. In his earlier years he was very active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as a Scout leader. He loved the water and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating. He was also known to occasionally take a few jaunts on his motorcycle. Many will remember him for his gardening and his great ability to grow prize tomatoes. Leonard is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Helen (Vaughan); sons, Mark Allen Dilcom, of New York, NY and Shelby Walter Tucker of Jefferson City; one sister, Lela Hendrix of Louisville, KY; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Cindy Lively of Festus. Also surviving are a host of good friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, January 10 from 4 to 8 p m Family members are invited to attend at 4 p. m. with the public invited to join them at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Farmington Pet Adoption Center.
