Leona Mae (Cooper) Onnie Clayton of Farmington passed from this life into her Savior's arms on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the age of 95 years. She was born on March 2, 1915, in Warsaw, IL, the daughter of the late Bertha Gertrude (Schnedler) and Ira B. Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Clarence E. Okie Clayton, a son, Richard Clayton, four brothers, Danny, Ray Edward, Ben and Ira Ikie Cooper, and two sisters, Hellen Geffers and June Bedford. Mrs. Clayton was saved in the winter of 1947 at Brightstone. They had to break the ice in the creek to baptize her. Throughout her life, she worked for the Lord, preaching and teaching sunday school. She enjoyed working on many different craft items, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Moon (James) and Elaine Chilton (Paul), a son, Michael K. Clayton, daughter-in-law, Shirley Clayton, two sisters, Gene Smith and Connie Collins (Wayne), and three brothers, Gerald Cooper (Charlene), Roy Cooper (Edna) and Ronnie Cooper (Elaine), 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Visitation will resume at 7 a.m. on Wednesday with a funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ray Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at Knob Lick Cemetery.
