Larry Eugene Barnes, Sr.

FARMINGTON - Larry Eugene Barnes, Sr. of Farmington passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the NHC Rehab Center in Desloge at the age of 71 years, three months and 27 days. He was born September 21, 1943 near Knob Lick at Syenite, son of the late Clyde William and Vicia Oleta (Clark) Barnes. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a Charter Member of the Farmington AMVETS Post. During his life he became an accomplished carpenter and worked as a building contractor prior to his retirement and was a long-time member of the Carpenter's Union District Council of Greater St. Louis. In his spare time he enjoyed "tinkering" to repair and "improve" various vehicles and equipment. He also enjoyed target shooting and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Larry Barnes, Jr. and wife Rebecca of High Ridge, Tim Barnes and wife, Christy of Farmington, and Rickey Barnes and wife, Denise of Centralia; seven grandchildren, Aaron Barnes, Andrew Barnes, Molly Barnes, Kyle Barnes, Brittany (Coleman) Barnes, Alexis Clark and Austin Clark; two great-grandchildren, Hayley Barnes and Austin Barnes; three brothers Clyde Raymond Barnes of California, John D. "J.D." Barnes of Farmington and Fred Darrell Barnes of Farmington, a sister Karen Charmely Lee of Florida, and numerous other relatives, dear friends and neighbors. Friends may gather at the Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1-2:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of His Life at 2:30 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later date at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Per Larry's request, the family has asked that no floral tributes be sent to the funeral home, but would instead request that donations be made to the Farmington Pet Adoption Center.
