Larry Edward Haywood, Sr.

February 20, 1946 — June 22, 2013

Larry Edward Haywood, Sr. of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the age of 67. He was born on February 20, 1946, at Fredericktown, MO, son of the late Guy Wesley Haywood and Essie (Denton) Jennings. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Shan Lane; a daughter, Lisa Gayle Peters; two brothers, Winston Haywood and Earl Haywood; two sisters, Iva Jean Wells and Aileen Harbison and his foster father, Paul Pinkley. Larry grew up in the Esther area where he attended a one room school. During the Vietnam War he proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as a tank driver. After returning from the military he worked for thirty years for the railroad. In 2006 he retired from his career and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Larry was a member of both the American Legion and the VFW post 5896 in Farmington where he had previously served as the Commander of the Sons of the VFW. Survivors include his wife, Gala (Merseal) Haywood; his sons, Guy "Eddie" Haywood and wife, Melinda, Larry E. Haywood, Jr. and wife, Christal, Randell Haywood and wife, Kristen and John Haywood; fifteen grandchildren, Amber, Adrian, Ashton, Michael, Zachary, Heather, Jessica, Matthew, Kyle, Kayla, Ryan, Meagan, Jennifer, Justin and Eric; one very special great-grandson, Karson Hunter Haywood and great granddaughter, Kaylee Rae; a brother, Wesley Haywood; three sisters, Virginia Huitt, Mary Loder and husband, Larry, and Susie Boschert and husband, Butch; his foster mother, Doris Jean Pinkley; two foster sisters, Carolyn Resinger and husband, Richard, and Paula Gremminger and husband, Larry; and a very special sister-in-law, Paige Merseal/Hodge and her husband, Foy. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many great friends. Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, June 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Rocky Good officiating.
