Ladonna Smith

LaDonna Smith of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at the age of 74 years. She was born March 15, 1935, at Mine La Motte, MO, daughter of the late Oran and Freda (LaBrot) Freeland. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son, Terry Smith and her sister, Barbara Freeland Guinn. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Farmington where she shared her faith by teaching a sunday school class while her boys were little. She also enjoyed singing in the Adult Senior Choir. She was a Den Mother while her boys were in Cub Scouts and chaperoned many Girl Scout camping trips for her daughters. An avid sports enthusiast, she spent many years on the women's softball league for her church and bowling at the Farmington Bowl-Aire Lanes. At age 60 she bowled a perfect 300 game which landed her in the Bowling Hall of Fame. When she wasn't spending time with her family, she was helping to support them by running the family owned business, Van's Moving and Storage. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Don Smith, a son, Keith Smith of Farmington, two daughters, Gina Niemeyer of Farmington and Lori Burke of Imperial; grandchildren, Cole Smith, Jody Smith, Evan Burke and Alec Burke; and great-grandson, Oakley Johns. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 25 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral services will follow Saturday at First Baptist Church of Farmington at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rocky Good officiating. Interment will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens, Farmington, MO.
