Kathleen M. Amsden

FARMINGTON Kathleen Mae Amsden of Farmington passed away at Presbyterian Manor on November 30, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born in Farmington on March 6, 1927 to the late William Lytle Baker and Jessie (Merseal) Baker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Amsden, Sr in 2012 and her son, Curtis Amsden. Kathleen was an avid gardener and her passion was growing flowers, but she raised plenty of fruits and vegetables for her family. Kathleen was a very active individual, artistic with her painting, gardening and homemaking. She made excellent clothes for herself and her family, a true talent. Kathleen enjoyed travel, camping and creating celebrations as they arose for the family. After thirty years of homemaking she had a thirty year career at the Farmington Livestock Market that she loved. She will also be remembered for her awesome cooking skills. By far, Kathleens biggest life accomplishment was her role as a mother of ten children, 9 boys and 1 girl. She raised her large family with a firm style of discipline and with a very effective pointing finger. She was a loving, devoted and caring mother and grandmother whose home was always a gathering place for friends and family. Kathleen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Farmington. Survivors include her children, David (Sheri) Amsden, Paul (Vicki) Amsden, Steven Amsden, Norman (Penny) Amsden, William (Nancy) Amsden, Matthew (Kim) Amsden, Andrew Amsden, Christopher Amsden and Julie (Paul) Cunningham; grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Ben, Missy, Sarah, Brenden, Genevieve, Luke, Vincent, Cody, Dustin, Kayce, Tonya, Chelsea, Levi, Jessy, Eli and Samuel; and 21 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 8 p.m. A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 at the Amsden Farm at 4655 White Oak Creek, Farmington, Missouri.
