Katheryn Marie Kennon of Farmington passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Country Meadows Care Center of Park Hills, Inc. at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 5 days. She was born on October 31, 1923, at Flat River, daughter of the late Eddie and Rose (Steffen) Staffen. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Kennon, a daughter Betty Scott, by two sisters, Edna and Ida Hahn, four brothers, Edwin "Fat", William "Bill", Albert "Gene" and infant Raymond Staffen. Before her retirement, she was employed at Trimfoot and Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center. She was a member of the Crossroads First Church of God, where she was active in Women's Ministry. In her spare time she enjoyed making quilts, reading books and working crossword puzzles. She also collected salt and pepper shakers, bird houses and Angels. Katheryn loved pets of all kinds. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by four daughters , Shirley (Mrs. Fred) Pinkston of Cuba, Maxine (Mrs. Elmer) Sands of Fulton, Linda (Mrs. Jerry) Robinette of Farmington, and Wanda (Mrs. Rudy) Rivera of Arlington, TX; three sons, James Kennon and wife Kathy of St. Charles, John Kennon and wife Mary, of Wortham, Paul Kennon and wife Penny of Farmington; and a sister, Eleanor "Toots" Porter of Ste. Genevieve; and by 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 7 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Whitewater Christian Cemetery at Yount, MO. Memorials may be made to the Whitewater Cemetery Fund.
