Karen Earnest Stefl passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the age of 60. She was born on June 30, 1954, at St. Louis, daughter of the late Bartley Aaron and Arlene Jean (McDaniel) Nelson. Karen was born in St. Louis and lived in various places as a child of a Navy veteran. She graduated high school in St. Louis in 1972. For many years Karen worked for the civil service and later she worked for the Veteran's Administration where she retired as a medical transcriptionist. Dancing was a favorite pastime of Karens' and she also loved to travel. Her favorite destinations were New Orleans and Dauphin Island, Alabama. She loved her dogs. Survivors include her beloved husband, Michael Stefl; her son, Christopher Earnest; her sister, Bartlene Martin; her God daughter, Dawn Erby; four grandchildren, Mason, Saviour, Nadine and Wyatt; special friend, Marilyn Kelly; nieces, nephews and other extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Visitation will resume on Monday beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at St Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
