June 'Lynn' Crites

FARMINGTON June "Lynn" Crites, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on September 19, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 75. She was born on August 27, 1948, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to the late June Arnold and Marsdena Frances (McKay) Corben. Lynn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dale Crites, her sons, Jeffrey (Crissy) Crites of Farmington and Jason (Erin) Crites of Farmington, her grandchildren, Taylor (Samantha) Crites, Corben Crites, Emma Crites, Elijah Crites, Tyler Crites, and Trae Crites, her sister, Dena Walker of Rolla, her cousin who was like a sister, Ila Rae Johnson, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lynn started working for the City of Farmington in 1984 as a part time volunteer at the library, then in 1985 became the Assistant Librarian. In 1988, she was promoted to Library Director until her retirement in January of 2002. Lynn was awarded the 2002 Journal/Press Leader Citizen of the Year. She was appointed to the City Council on April 27, 2009, and served three full terms before stepping down in April of 2016. She also served as Book Committee Chairman for the History of Farmington publication. She was a former member of Kiwanis and attended New Heights Church. Lynn enjoyed genealogy, gardening, birds, reading, quilting, traveling and afternoons on the pontoon boat at the lake with her family. Her infectious smile and friendly manner will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10:00am in the Cozean Chapel officiated by Pastor Rocky Good.
