Juanita Spears Burcham

Juanita Spears Burcham of Farmington passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the age of 93. She was born on December 16, 1919, at Greenbriar, AR, daughter of the late Lewis Spears and Myrtle (Tyler) Sherrills. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Walter Burcham, in 1978; and two sisters, Kathryn Snyder and Francis Moore. Juanita moved from Arkansas at a young age to Elvins where she attended high school. She moved with her family to New York City for a time until her father's death. At that time the family moved back to Elvins. After marriage she and Walter moved to Flat River and then on to Farmington where she went to work for Trimfoot and was employed there until her retirement in 1983. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Park Hills for many years. Her passions were her church, her home and her family. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Daniel Giessing, of Calabash, North Carolina; three grand-children, Mark Giessing and wife, Virginia, Kristin Bowers, and Angela Bortell and husband, Brian; eight great-grandchildren, Kevin and Grant Giessing; Michelle, Zachary, Emily and Rebekah Bowers; and Joshua and Allison Bortell. Also surviving are extended family and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Monday, March 11 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating.
