Joyce Pohlman

Joyce Violet Pohlman of Farmington passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the age of 69. She was born on August 2, 1944, in St. Louis, daughter of the late Robert Francis and Florence Margaret (Schutz) Starr. Joyce graduated from Normandy High School in 1962 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1973 she married the love of her life, Ronald Pohlman who was in the U. S. Coast Guard. In traveling to various locations as a military wife, Joyce was employed as a nurse in many places such as Hawaii and Alaska. After Ronald's retirement they moved to Farmington where she worked at Mineral Area Hospital. Joyce was very outgoing and never met a stranger. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing for bass and salmon, and often bragged that she caught the biggest. She loved traveling and keeping in touch with many friends from the various places she lived. She will be most remembered for her tender, loving heart and her ability to blend in with any situation. She was a faithful member of Three Rivers Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ronald; a sister, Suzann Starr; nieces, Angela (Jim) Corbett and Darese Doskal; nephews, William (Samantha) Daugherty and Chad (Christy) Daugherty; seven great nieces and nephews; cousins, Carolynn (Mike) Bayne and Jim (Paula) Allen, and a host of many good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m.with Rev. David Wright officiating. Interment will be on Thursday afternoon at 1:45 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Farmington Pet Adoption Center.
