Joyce Lorraine Ely

KIMBERLING CITY, MO - Joyce Lorraine Shannon Ely of Kimberly City, and formerly of Farmington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 8, 2017 at Table Rock Health Care Center in Kimberling City, Missouri the age of 90. She was born June 29th, 1927 in Flat River, Mo to the late Emmett and Irene (Eden) Shannon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin George Ely; four brothers, Gene Shannon, Lee Shannon, Tom Shannon, Emmett (Jr.) Shannon; and three sisters, Eileen Cole, Blanche King, Genevieve Russell.

Joyce made her home in Farmington, Mo for many years before moving to the Lampe-Kimberling City area in 2014. She loved reading her Bible, attending Church, making quilts and embroidering pillow cases. An accomplished cook, she loved to bake cakes and pies, which everyone enjoyed. She really loved being with her family and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.

Survivors include one sister, Ruth Williams of Florissant; four sons, James (Diane) Ely of Desloge, Missouri, Rick (Robin) Ely of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Roger (Jackie) Ely of Lampe, Missouri and Melvin E. Ely of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday at 1 p.m. at Hurryville Free Will Baptist Church followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Roger Ely officiating. Interment will be at Doe Run Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials, if desired may be made to Hurryville Free Will Baptist Church.
