Johnie Eugene Strickland

STE GENEVIEVE Johnie E. Strickland, of Ste. Genevieve, entered into eternal rest on August 27, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 81. He was born on May 14, 1941, in Pickle Springs, Missouri, to the late Sylvester and Georgia (Barnes) Strickland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edna Strickland, Marie Cunningham, Doris Copeland, Peggy Maggison, Robert Strickland, and Roger Strickland, his son-in-law, Carl Steele, and his sister-in-law, Ellen Strickland. Johnie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma (Copeland) Strickland, his children, Lora Steele of Ste. Genevieve, Kenneth (Angie) Strickland of Ste. Genevieve, and Lance (Elizabeth) Strickland of Farmington, five grandchildren, Seth (Ashley), Ethan, Kelsey (Jesse), Kyle and Heath, nine great grandchildren, Kinsley, Kaylee, Emma, Maxwell, William, Claire, Aurora, Blake, and Chloe, his siblings, Dale (Sharon) Strickland of Ste. Genevieve, Judith (Jim) Gilliam of Bonne Terre, and Billy Strickland of Farmington, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Johnie proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Pilot Knob Pellet Company until the company closed its doors. Johnie was a very giving person who always liked helping others. He had a vast knowledge of fixing just about anything, was a jack of all trades and was a talented woodworker. He adored his grandchildren and always gave them advice on living an honest and positive life. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel.
