John F. Sydik

STE. GENEVIEVE – John F. Sydik, of Ste. Genevieve, entered eternal rest on February 20, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson at the age of 71. He was born on July 7, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, to John and Ann (McCain) Sydik of Festus.

John is survived by his loving longtime partner, Emily Layton of Ste. Genevieve, his sister, Linda (Ron) Bachmann of Nashville, Tennessee, his nephew, Dr. Justin (Dr. Katherine) Bachmann and their children, Caroline and Gregory of Nashville, Tennessee along with many other family members and friends. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ann Sydik and his grandparents, Gilbert Ernest and Zora (Brown) McCain of Barnhart and John and Helena Sydik of Festus. 

John was a graduate of Crystal City High School and spent most of his life in the Festus/Crystal City area. He worked as a cement truck driver in that area and retired after 30 years of employment. John enjoyed boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, flying remote-controlled airplanes and spending time with his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
