FARMINGTON- John N. Snider, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 25, 2025, at the age of 60. He was born on December 22, 1964, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late Carl and Margaret (nee Essner) Snider.
John was a proud alumnus of Farmington High School, graduating in 1983. During his time there, he was very active in various activities, including the FFA, the 4-H club, and both the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. His dedication to service was evident throughout his life, particularly during his time in the United States Navy, where he served for ten years and worked on the USS Constellation (CV-64) and contributed to the maintenance of Grumman F-14 Tomcats. This dedication continued after his military career as he volunteered for a decade at the Wolf Creek Fire Protection District, eventually taking on the role of fire chief for several years, demonstrating his commitment to the safety and well-being of his community.
John's personal interests were as diverse as his professional life. He found joy in watching baseball, shooting his guns, barbecuing with family and friends, and cooking. He treasured spending quality time with his loved ones. He especially enjoyed the companionship of his feline friend, Daisy Mae.
John leaves behind two beloved children, Victoria Snider and Andrew (Zach) Snider; his sister, Carla (Paul) Will; his nephew, Greg (Melanie) Will; his niece, Melissa (Josh) Hauf; and several aunts, uncles, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Snider and Margaret (Essner) Snider, and his granddaughter, Peighton Peterson, who will now be reunited with him.
A visitation will be held on January 29, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and visitation will resume on January 30, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Darlene Williams and Pastor Tom Bequette officiating. John will be laid to rest at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cozean Memorial Chapel to assist with funeral expenses.
