John M. Mills

MINERAL POINT- John M. Mills, 59 of Mineral Point, formerly of Farmington, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center. He was born August 29, 1953 at Bonne Terre, son of the late Eugene L. and Elsie J. (Lewis) Mills. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Jeff Mills. John grew up in and around Farmington and was a 1971 graduate of Farmington High School. In his youth he developed and embraced a creative passion for drawing, becoming very proficient. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports, particularly Cardinal Baseball, Rams Football, and Fantasy Football. John was loving husband and father, with a care-free and fun loving spirit. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him which includes his wife Janet (Vaughn) Mills of Mineral Point, sons Samuel Mills of Jefferson City, Dylan Mills of Farmington, and Adam Cole of Mineral Point, Daughters Molly Mills of DesArc, and Angela and husband Jim Gipson of Farmington, sister Tamera Ward and husband, Ben, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, special niece, Rachel and husband Ray Cureton of Farmington, seven grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Brother David Mills officiating. The family will receive friends at the Cozean Chapel beginning at 11a.m. and continuing until the start of the service at 1p.m. In memory of John's love for sports, the family requests that those attending his service feel free to come dressed in their favorite sports fan attire. The family has requested that memorials, if desired, may be directed to the American Cancer Society. All arrangements are under the care and direction of the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
