John Edward Hahl of Farmington, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the age of 53. He was born on November 5, 1960, at St. Louis, son of Harry Hahl Sr. and the late Norma Jean (Bayless) Hahl. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Hahl, his paternal grandparents, Harry and Viola Hahl; his maternal grandparents, McDowell and Leona Bayless; a niece, Leona Hahl, nephew, Michael Harp and special friend and mother of John's daughter, Nichole, Malisa Carver. John graduated from Farmington High School in 1978. He went on to work for many years as a self-employed painter before going to work nine years ago at Mississippi Lime Company. He thoroughly enjoyed working for the mining company and was always proud of the fact that he was trained to work in most areas of the company. Most recently he was primarily a trainer and a boom scaler. In his spare time he was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his daughters and taking care of his brother, Harry "Sonny" Hahl, Jr.. He liked to barbeque and host family get-togethers, motorcycle rides, boating and family outings to the zoo and Six Flags. Survivors include his father, Harry Hahl, Sr.; daughters, Jessica (Daniel Engler) Hahl and Nichole Hahl; sisters, Valerie (Mike) Brooks and Cathy (Charlie) Bettah; brothers, Harry "Sonny" Hahl, Jr., Joseph (Penny) Hahl and Jeff Hahl; and special friend, Amy Jarrett and her daughter, Jayla; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are many good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will be at Knob Lick Cemetery in Knob Lick. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the John Hahl Memorial Fund for the benefit of Jessica and Nichole Hahl.
