John Clarke Moeser

February 19, 1937 — November 12, 2022

John Clarke Moeser, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 85. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 19, 1937, to the late Robert Henry Moeser and Almyra Josephine (Denham) Womack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia (Van Horn) Moeser; a brother, Robert D. Moeser and half-brother, Gerald Moeser. John grew up in the Festus area where he graduated from Festus High School in 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He spent twenty-two years with the Navy retiring in June of 1978 as Chief Petty Officer. While serving he traveled the world widely and many of his assignments involved top secret communications. One of his naval career achievements was receiving a presidential letter of commendation for his pioneering work in communications. When John returned to civilian life, he attained a Masters Degree from Southeast Missouri State University and embarked on a teaching career where he began as an Industrial Arts teacher and later a Math teacher at Fort Zumwalt North and South Middle Schools and at Dubray Middle School. After seventeen years John retired from teaching. In 2002 he and Patricia relocated to Farmington where they were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. John had a keen sense of humor and loved being a bit of a prankster. He often dressed up as a clown named "Tootsie" and passed out tootsie rolls. Tootsie showed up at many family birthday parties and events. In his spare time he was an accomplished woodworker, having made many items for family members to pass down through the generations. In his younger years, John enjoyed playing golf and a good game of poker. Survivors include his children, Karen (Rick) Krietemeyer, Kathy (Gordon) Epps and John (Sherri) Moeser; five grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Wallace, Heather (Daniel) Romage, Logan Epps, Caitlin Jones and Adam Moeser; great grandchildren, Melanie, Carter, Natalie, Nathan and Emilia; a sister, Sharon Williams; two half-brothers, Lee (Veeda) Womack and Bill (Pat) Womack and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Cozean Memorial Chapel beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. David Schmitt officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Crystal City at 2 p.m. Memorials, if desired, may be made to American Red Cross or Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund.
