John Boyer, Jr.

John Boyer, Jr., of Belgrade, passed away February 10, 2015 at the age of 83 years. He was born July 21, 1931 in Old Mines, Missouri to the late John Boyer, Sr. and Frances (DeClue) Boyer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Jerry Boyer. John grew up in the Old Mines area where he attended Catholic School. At the age of eighteen he went to work at Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis where he worked for several years before going to work at Stix, Baer & Fuller. Most of his career was spent working as a machinist for McDonnell Douglas. He ended his career working for Amax Mines in Bixby. In his spare time he was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed hiking. An avid reader, John enjoyed reading Louis Lamour Western novels. He had a real passion for spending time with his beloved grandbabies who were the apple of his eye. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Betty (Dean) Boyer; eight children, John (Glenda) Boyer, Rick Boyer, Sharon (Jerry) Boyer-Fritz, Denise (John) Henderson, Greg (Kathy) Boyer; Ranzi Boyer, Alma Roth and Paul Boyer; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; fifteen step-granchildren and step great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert and three sisters, Mary, Ruth Ann and Ethel; special friend, Velma Portell; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1:30 with Pastor Fred Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Lick Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Liberty Baptist Church in Belgrade.
