Johannes Schlott

Johannes Schlott passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the age of 87. He was born on March 14, 1925, at Zwickau, East Germany, son of the late Walter Max Schlott and Paula (unknown) Schlott. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ursula Schlott on January 9, 2013; and a brother, Werner Schlott. Johannes grew up in East Germany and was formally schooled as a tool & dye maker. He was very accomplished in his profession and practiced it throughout his lifetime. In 1960 Johannes and Ursula moved to the United States with their daughter, Monika, settling in St. Louis to start a new and better life, bringing only two suitcases and the clothes on their back. In 2005 they moved to Farmington to be close to their daughter. Johannes and Ursula were faithful members of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall of Farmington. An outdoorsman, Johannes enjoyed camping and bird watching. Survivors include his daughter, Monika Koen and her husband, Don of Farmington; grandson, Matthew Smith and granddaughter, Sonja Das and husband, Trilo; three great-granddaughters; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerd and Anneliese Kurzhals and a niece and several nephews. There will be a joint memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Schlott at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
