Lester Joseph Joe Straughan Jr., of Farmington, MO, was born on September 25, 1939 and passed away on October 15, 2007 at John J. Pershing VA Medial Center in Poplar Bluff, at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Joseph Straughan Sr. and Mrs. Bessie (Hammack) Straughan, and one sister, Patricia Straughan Ashby. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Busenbark) Straughan of Farmington, one son, Lester Joseph Straughan III and friend, Cindy of St. Claire, MO, one daughter, Kristin Leslie (Mrs. John) Yow, a special son-in-law John Yow and one granddaughter, the light of his life, Briar MaKay Hartrup, all of Farmington, one sister, Betty (Mrs. Jerry) Chatman of Puxico, MO, one brother, Tom (Betty) Straughan of Farmington, and other cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington and rededicated his life in June 2007. He was also a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765. Joe loved life, spending time on his farm and was an avid outdoorsman. The family will receive friends at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. The Farmington Elks Lodge will have a service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Family will hold a private graveside service on Wednesday, October 24, at Parkview Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association; 660 South Euclid Box 8111, St. Louis, MO 63110. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Horton & Wampler Funeral Home and Cozean Memorial Chapel.
