Joann R. Friedman

FARMINGTON Joann R. Friedman of Farmington, passed away at her home on August 19, 2022 at the age of 82. She was born July 20, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marianna Castellano; her husband, Richard Friedman in 2006; and her brother, Edward Baird. Joann was raised in South St. Louis and after high school went to work at Toledo Scale before later going to work in the clerical department of the St. Louis Police Department. She met her husband, Richard in South St. Louis and they were married in 1965. She and Richard moved from St. Louis to Cape Girardeau and then to St. Charles before settling in Farmington in 1970. Her strong Roman Catholic faith was unfaltering and her devotion to the Blessed Mother brought her through any trials she faced in life. Joann was an avid reader and being a meticulous person, she spent a lot of time organizing. Her strong-willed personality was most likely derived from her Italian heritage. A loving and devoted mother, she loved her girls more than anything. Survivors include her two daughters, Madonna Friedman and Gina Friedman; her sister-in-law, Sister Michael Marie Friedman, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She also leaves behind her beloved feline friend, "Rowdy". There will be a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Cozean Memorial Chapel beginning at 10 a.m. with Father Paul Skierka officiating. Interment will follow at New Calvary Cemetery in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Food for the Poor, Inc. or Missouri Right to Life.
