FARMINGTON- Jimmy Wilson Armstrong of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at his residence at the age of 66. He was born March 14, 1946 at Belmont, Mississippi, son of the late William D. and Nellie (Moore) Armstrong. Jimmy attended Pharmacy School at the University of Tennessee at Memphis, and was a practicing pharmacist for 39 years until his retirement in 2010. During the 1980's Jimmy was the manager of Heck's IGA in Farmington. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and traveling and was an avid gardener. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Joan Ellen (Heck) Armstrong of Farmington, three children, Andrea M. Simmons of Farmington, Amanda J. Armstrong of St. Louis, and James W. Armstrong of Farmington, two grandchildren, Jesse and Justine Simmons, and a sister Dianne Bomar of Memphis, Tennessee. Many other relatives, friends, and neighbors also survive. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. There will be a memorial gathering of friends and family at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 6 - 9 p.m. The family requests no flowers or plants, but instead wishes memorials be made to the Farmington Pet Adoption Center, 2901 US Highway 67, Farmington, MO 63640.
