STE. GENEVIEVE CO. Jimmie Dale "Hoppy" Boyd of Ste. Genevieve County passed away Thursday August 25, 2016 at the family farm in the Clearwater Community of Ste. Genevieve County. He was born on November 28, 1936 on the same farm where he passed away son of the late Elijah Bernard and Alice Captola (Pirtle) Boyd. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Joyce Steckman and Chyerl Cartee, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, son-in-law John Stacy and daughter-in-law Lisa Boyd.
Jimmie grew up in the Clearwater Community and attended the Pine Log school and graduated from St. Mary High School in 1955. He made his living as a heavy equipment operator and as a farmer. He was baptized into the Christian faith on August 8, 1954 at Peaceful Valley Camp and was a long-time member of the Trinity Baptist Church at St. Mary where on July 7, 1956 he was married to Rebecca Ann Blanford. He was a member of Local 513 Operating Engineers for 54 years, he was a 48 year member of the Desoto I.O.O.F. and later transferred his membership to the Farmington Lodge #48. He was a 53 year 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Saline Lodge 226 and St. Francois Lodge 234, Sword of Bunker Hill, 51 year member of the Eastern Star and in 1991 became a member of the Shriners Moolah Temple of Mystic Shrine.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years Rebecca Ann (Blanford) Boyd, his children Nelda L. Stacy, Kevin J. Boyd, Dale S. (& Penny) Boyd and Jemi Ann (& Donald) Bloodworth, a sister Janice (& Jim) Gann, brother-in-laws Fred Steckman and Don Cartee, 12 grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren with one more on the way and a host of extended family and friends.
Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Eastern Star and Masonic Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverend Don Estes officiating. Interment will be in the Mayberry Cemetery at Avon. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the St. Louis Shriner's Children's Hospital.
