Jimmie Boyer

Jimmie Eugene Boyer was called to Heaven on December 8, 2014 at the age of 80 to coach a team for our Heavenly Father. He was born March 14, 1934 in Carter County, Missouri to the late Ernest L. and Erma M. (Longbottom) Boyer. Jim proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force as Airman Basic and received the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He worked at the Pentagon during the Korean War as a clerk typist. After the military Jim had a long career in insurance having worked as an adjuster for many years and later finishing his career as an insurance specialist with FEMA. Jim loved baseball and coached for 30 years in various organizations such as the American Legion, Mineral Area Baseball Association (MABA) and most notably, the Farmington Chiefs. Jim's teams accumulated more than 300 wins during his tenure including two state championships in 1982 and 1984. He was a faithful member of the Delassus First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila Ann (Harris) Boyer; six children, Dennis Craig Boyer and wife, Julie, of Pleasant Hill, MO, Steven Kent Boyer and wife, Karen, of Lake St. Louis, MO, Scott Alan Boyer and wife, JiHye of Wailuki, HI, Deron Keith Boyer and fiance, Paige Swartz, of Bloomington, IL, Daniel Kyle Boyer and wife, Kerrie, of Farmington and Sean Patrick Boyer of Farmington; grandchildren, Andrea McFarland, Ryan Boyer, Olivia Boyer, Sarah Boyer, Rosie Boyer, Katie Boyer, Erin Jett (Andrew), Chris Boyer, Jordan Boyer, Abigail Boyer, Andrew Boyer, Caroline Boyer, Eli Boyer and Justus Boyer; two great-grandchildren and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Delassus Baptist Church with Rev. Deron K. Boyer officiating. Military honors will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Childrens' Hospital.
