James E. "Jim" Rigdon of Farmington passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Community Manor, at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was born October 11, 1946, at Bonne Terre, MO, son of the late Elmer J. and Evelyn (Huber) Rigdon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, LeRoy Weedy and Nadine (Pinkley) McCalister. Jim was a lifelong resident of the Farmington area and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School of Farmington and graduated in 1966 from Mineral Area College with an Associates Degree. He was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge. Jim enjoyed watching sports, especially Cardinal Baseball and Rams Football. He was a car enthusiast and worked as a salesman for Wichman Motors, Wohlschlaeger Motors and more recently Sam Scism Motors. He also was a Farmers Insurance Agent for ten years. His family, children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Carol (McCalister) Rigdon, son, Brian Rigdon and his wife Sandra, daughter, Kelly and her husband Dr. Justin Roberts all of Farmington, daughter, Christy Byrd of Festus, brother, Tom Rigdon and his wife Carolyn, sister-in-law, Cindy Miller and her fianc, Sheldon Combs all of Farmington, brother-in-law, Marc McCalister and his fiance Cathy Savage of Festus, and six grandchildren, Jenna and Sara Rigdon, Lauren, Meghan and Nicole Roberts all of Farmington, and Isaac Byrd of Festus. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 7 to 9 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington with Father Rickey Valleroy officiating. Interment will follow at New Calvary Cemetery.
