Jessie Irene Lindsey, formerly of Doe Run, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born on June 11, 1922, in Farmington, daughter of the late James J. and Hazel A. (Jarrette) Porter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, James Clarence Lindsey Sr. in 1992 and her brother and sister-in-law, James and Lorene Porter. Jessie grew up in Doe Run where she graduated from high school as Salutatorian in 1940. She went on to marry the love of her life, James Clarence Lindsey on April 12, 1952. She supported her family through the trials and tribulations of being a military family for 22 years. In 1985 she and Jim moved back to Doe Run to retire. She will be remembered for her great cooking, baking, candy making but mostly for her beautiful smile. She was the ultimate wife, mother and grandmother and her children thank God everyday for giving her to them. Jessie is survived by her son, James Clarence Lindsey Jr. and wife Teresa Ruth of Tampa, FL., daughter, Deborrah J. Hann and husband Mike of the State of California; three grandchildren, Christopher Hann, in the U. S. Air Force serving in Afghanistan, Michael J. Lindsey, serving in the USMC and Erin Lindsey of Tampa, FL and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Lilly Hann of the State of Texas. Also surviving is a special cousin, Alta Vandergriff; two nieces, Donna Barnhouse and Carla Forinash; nephew, James Porter; a sister-in-law, Mary Allen and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, April 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning from 7 a.m. until the beginning of the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. Jay Lacey officiating. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
