Jerry Slater

Jerry Wayne Slater of Doe Run passed way on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Camelot Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 60 years, 7 months, and 5 days. He was born May 27, 1950, in Denver, CO, son of the late Evan Miller and Stella Verna (Chamberlain) Slater. Jerry proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and was self-employed, working in the Parkland as a resale vendor. In his spare time Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him and that includes his two sons, Evan Slater of Monett and Terry Slater of Killeen, TX, a daughter, Crystal Slater of Doe Run, seven grandchildren, and two brothers, Ron Slater and Ellis Slater both of the State of Colorado. Many other relatives and friends also survive. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with the Rev. James Lacey officiating. Please arrive at the cemetery by 10:30 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at the National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
