Jerry Hansford Miller

November 6, 1942 — February 27, 2024

Jerry Hansford Miller, Superintendent/Design Engineer for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and architectural visionary, departed to Heaven on February 27, 2024. Jerry started his career for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in 1961, bringing excellence in manufacturing and engineering to fighter aircraft including the F-4 Phantom, F-15 Eagle, F-18 Hornet and the AV-8B Harrier. His knowledge and dedication to excellence spanned over 31 years in air defense, bringing both domestic and international contracts to completion throughout his career. After retirement, Jerrys love for architecture and design led him to Libertyvilles historical home on Tillman Road. He traded building fighter jets for building fireplaces. His vision was beyond what anyone could see for this aging "diamond in the rough." Jerry and Kays home now stands in all its well-deserved glory because of Jerrys dedication to that vision. He forever saw the beauty in old things. He loved old books, old tools, old pictures and old friends. His talents, awards and generosities were innumerable and so were his passions, not the least of which was his family. Jerry was born in Frankclay Missouri and is preceded in death by his father, Carl Hansford Miller, his mother Audrey Norene (Lucy) Miller, and his sister Barbara Ann (Miller) Griffith. Jerry is survived by his wife Kay (Jarvis) Miller, sisters Linda Buchalter, Cheryl Saeuberlich, and Angela Christie; his children, Kym Renkoski (Matt), Whitney Schmidt (Wade), and Aundrea Schubbe (Scott); his grandchildren, Ashley Dianne Tyrell (Alex), Hadley Brooke Bafaro, Philip Michael Hansford Bafaro, Carlin Kymberly Maynard (Jacob), Emma Audrey Luetkemeyer (Jack), Justine Emily Schaper and Grace Miller Arias; great grandchildren, Eva, Dominic, Liam, Aeyden, Barrett, Beckham and Leo. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel followed by a service at 2 p.m. with Reverend Greg Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Libertyville Christian Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be given in Jerrys name to the American Cancer Society.
