Jerry Charles Thomure of Farmington passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the age of 82 years. He was born on February 14, 1929, at Ste. Genevieve County, MO, son of the late John W. Thomure and Leona A. (Harmon) Sanders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel N. McCabe, Alta G. Wampler and husband Ervin, Helen Bowling and husband Harlin, and Bertha "Bert" Gastriech and husband Roy; and a brother, Vernon M. Thomure and wife Carrie. Jerry grew up on a farm in Ste. Genevieve County. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1954 he returned to the Farmington area where he enjoyed a long career as a farmer. In his spare time he enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with family members. Survivors include a sister, Ruth Robertson and a brother, John Ellis Thomure both of Farmington; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 18. Visitation on Saturday at 7 a.m. with a funeral service at 10 am in the Cozean Chapel with Brother Donald Strickland officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve County. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Share your condolences and memories at cozean.biz.
