Jeffrey Lee Hampton

June 18, 1955 — December 16, 2014

Jeff Hampton, of Park Hills, passed away surrounded by family on December 16, 2014 at the age of 59 years. He was born June 18, 1955 in Ironton to the late Wilburn James and Barbara (Lacey) Hampton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Hampton in 2000. Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Farmington High School. He was employed by the City of Farmington as a heavy equipment operator for 34 years. After his retirement, Jeff enjoyed repairing small engines for friends and family. An avid outdoorsman, he liked going hunting in his spare time. Animal and wild life wood carving was a hobby of his and he leaves behind many beautiful pieces he has crafted throughout his life. He will be remembered as being an easy going person who never met a stranger and was loved not only by his immediate family but also his many nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Karen Kiepe Hampton; his son, Matthew Hampton and wife, Christine, and his daughter, January Cook and husband, Brian; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Madison and Wyatt; sisters, Patsy (Charles) Reed, Barbara (Kevin) Province, Donna (Toby) Abernathy, Vicki (Paul) Amsden and Jayne (Dale) Kinneman; brothers, J. W. (Selina) Hampton, Jack Hampton and Jason (Lisa) Hampton; a sister-in-law, Cathy Hampton Starkey; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 19 from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. Eddie Bone officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
