BISMARCK Jeannine D. Hintze, of Bismarck, passed away at Parkland Health Center on July 5, 2016 at the age of 78. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 14, 1937 to the late August Schaper and Carolina (Bott) Schaper. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Earl Hintze in 2014; a brother, Donald Schaper and two sisters, Adline Pelker and Jeannette Whitener.
Jeannine graduated from Normandy High School in 1955. In 1957 she married Ronald Hintze and they lived in St. Louis until moving to Ste. Genevieve in 1974. She worked for Southeast Missouri State Hospital as a psychiatric aide for more than twenty years. Jeannine was an avid Cardinals fan who also enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to the casinos. She also loved gardening and canning and was known for having large vegetable gardens. She was a member of the Shriner's Clan 140 Hillbillies and was the Possum Queen.
Jeannine was fortunate to have been one of the longest living double lung transplant recipients in the world, having lived for nearly 18 years after her transplant. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Preferred Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Jeannine.
Survivors include her children, Kevin Hintze, Kimberly (Bruce) Pulley, all of Bismarck, and Kathy (Daniel) McNail of the state of Alabama; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen (Melva) Schaper of St. Louis; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. with Chaplain Shirley Martka officiating.
