Jasper Duncan

Jasper David Duncan of Bonne Terre passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the age of 81. He was born on September 15, 1931, at Mountain View, AR, son of the late David and Cecilia (Huyck) Duncan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie (McDole) Duncan in April of 2013; three sisters; three brothers; a son-in-law, Dennis Jercick and a brother-in-law. Jasper grew up in the hills of central Arkansas and worked in the cotton fields from a young age. It was there that he met a pretty young co-worker, Annie McDole. He and Annie were married on Jasper's birthday in 1953. They moved to St. Louis where they made their home and he worked for General Motors. After retiring in 1986 they moved to Judsonia, AR. In 2008 Jasper and Annie came to the Bonne Terre area to be close to their children. He was a faithful and active member of Genevieve Baptist Church and loved listening to gospel music. He was an outdoorsman who loved camping, boating and feeding and tending to his beloved squirrels and birds. Jasper enjoyed being with family and attending get-togethers and reunions. Survivors include his children, JoAnn (Mrs. James) Carnaghi, Nancy Jercick, Terry Duncan and wife, Kelly, Wanda (Mrs. Tim) Chrismer and Karan (Mrs. Mark) Sabin; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with one on the way; one brother, Jackie Duncan; one sister, Peggy Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends. Friends may call at Genevieve Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 3 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. A funeral service will follow beginning at 12 noon at the church with Pastor Fred Killilan officiating. Interment will be at Genevieve Baptist Cemetery.
