Janice Johnson

Janice Kay Johnson of Knob Lick passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the age of 66. She was born on October 3, 1948, at Ironton, daughter of the late Alvin Guy Murphy and Fern Audell (Wallace) Murphy, who survives. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Jay Christopher Nash in 1970. Janice graduated from Farmington High School and went on to graduate from Farmington Beauty Academy. She spent many years working as a beautician in the area. For the past sixteen years she worked as a cook at the Fredericktown Senior Center. A faithful member of the Knob Lick Church of God, Janice, played the organ and piano there for many, many years. She was an accomplished musician. Her family will remember her wonderful cooking, especially her chicken and dumplings and her homemade rolls. In her spare time she enjoyed camping and boating. Her grandchildren and great granddaughter were truly the light of her life. In addition to her mother, Audell, she is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Harold Johnson, sons, Kenneth W. (Lisa) Nash and Nathan L. Johnson; three grandchildren, Cindy Cofer, Kristen Nash and Caden Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Kinley Cofer; one brother, Wayne Murphy and friend, Staci Faubion; other extended family and her extensive church family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gene Moses officiating. Interment will be at Knob Lick Cemetery in Knob Lick. Memorials may be made to Gateway of Hope.
